In choosing your materials, make sure that they are washable.
Felts are, of course, the exception; although they won't wash they
are cheap and colourful to work with.
For machining I use No. 60 Super Sewing Cotton or a synthetic
thread. This thread is also suitable for closing the stuffing opening
by matching it to the colour of the body of the toy. For the eyes,
one needs very strong and durable cotton, and I sew them on with
Linen Button Thread No. 35. The hand-embroidered noses are
made in black embroidery silk.
