All in all, when purchasing or selecting material for toymaking
always bear in mind that one of the processes of toymaking
is
stuffing, therefore your fabric must be firm enough not
to distort
the shape under pressure.
Handicraft shops also stock glass eyes in various sizes
and colours
from 5 mm to 13 mm. My tip is, always try to buy the larger
size,
as the large eye gives a toy a wide-awake and perhaps slightly
surprised look. Nowadays, with the variety of imported buttons,
it
is worth while having a look at these first and use them
instead of
glass eyes. Extremely good results can be achieved by mounting
buttons on felt discs to give the desired finish to the
face.
