Page 7 - COPYING THE DRAWING FROM THE EXISTING
ARTWORK
From the many books examined, I decided to select this
simple
artist's impression of a foal. The outline in this drawing
(Diagram
1) is clear, simple, and distinct, and it is easy to make
it into a
pattern.
1 Outline drawing copied from a book and suitable/or making
a simple
Profile Horse.
Diagrams 2 and 3 although attractive in movement and typical
of
a horse, will never make a toy. The prancing horse in Diagram
2
standing on two legs only with one front leg and one back
leg
suspended in the air, is useless for the purpose of a toy
as it will
make the finished work unstable. In Diagram 3 the movement
is
stretched out and the legs hardly touch the ground, consequently
this sketch will also be unsuitable for copying as a toy.
Always
consider when choosing your drawing that the bulk of the
body has
to be placed on firm sturdy legs. This will prevent the
toy from
falling over or collapsing in the joints.
