Making the Head and Face - Making the back of the head

The back of the head is made in two parts by the doll maker to give the head a shape resembling a human head. The pattern is derived from the face pattern (see diagram). Draw 1/2 of the pattern without the darts and and shape it as in the diagram below, curving the back of the head and adding a slight outward curve down the centre line. If a larger head is required, the doll maker should make a short gusset to go between the two halves at the back of the head, starting at the face and ending 3.8cm down the back of the head (see bottom diagram).
