Doll Maker

Front and Back Feet

To make the doll stand firmly on the ground, the doll maker must make the front and back foot patterns as follows.

The front foot pattern is in depth halfway between the knee and the ankle and in width, 1 2/3 the width of the ankle. The curve at the top matches the curve at the top of the feet.

The back foot is half the depth of the front foot and is straight at the top matching the back leg.

To make the doll stand firmly, it is important that the doll maker design the feet well. Each consists of two parts, the front and back foot. The front foot pattern is like the top of a shoe cut straight down in line with the front of the shin. The sides extend on both parts of the foot patterns to add length to the sole. See side view below.

The sole is an oval shape, wider in the front and matching the circumference of the front and the back foot less the seams between the two sections of the foot.
