Making the Doll, Doll Hairstyles

As for hair styles, the choice lies entirely with the doll maker. The doll can have plaits, a fringe and short hair, a fringe and plaits-the variety is unlimited. The best way of making up a wig is, in the
first place, to decide on the style.

Should you want to make a doll with a centre parting and plaits, the system is this. Measure
sideways across the head adding on length for plaits. Using double knitted wool, the doll maker should divide it in half and lay the wool very tightly with the centre of the wool resting on a flesh coloured tape. make sure there are no gaps and machine the two rows of stiching along the tape.

The Doll Maker should then pin the tape in the centre of the forhead ending at the back of the neck. Sew firmly by hand into place, then plait the wool and finish off with ribbons, bows, etc...
