Kids Furniture
Child Size Table
and Chair
This 2-3 day project will suit children up to 6 years of age,
is easily made, low in cost, sturdy and practical. It can be
used indoors and outdoors for dozens of childhood activities...
games, drawing and painting, model making, ice cream parties
etc. Instructions (1)
- On a sheet of heavy paper draw a grid of one inch squares
15" wide and 22" deep. Copy the outline of the
sides of the chair onto the grid using the small scale pattern
as a guide.
- Cut this pattern out carefully and trace four times onto
the 1/2" ply wood sheet as shown in the Cutting Diagram.
The seats, chair backs and cleats, and parts for the table
can be
measured and drawn direct onto the plywood.
- Allow sufficient space between each piece for width of
saw cut.
- For ease of handling, saw the panel into six pieces on
the lines marked 1, 2,3,4, and 5. Cut out all parts.
- Plane and sand edges smooth and chamfer to prevent chipping.
- The holes for the seat lugs on each side of the chair
must be carefully positioned and cut to fit the lugs snugly.
- Drill holes for pegs, round off ends of lugs and make
eight pegs.
