How to make trousers for your kids
Finishing the trousers
Fold a 1.75 cm ( in) hem to the wrong side on the end of the
front waistband extension. Fold under a 1.75 cm ( in) hem
on the upper edges of the trousers at the front and back.
Tack.
Fold the upper edge of the trousers over to the wrong side
all round the top of the trousers. The finished depth of the
front waistband and back casing is 2.5 cm (1 in). Tack, leaving
an opening at the side seams. Using a safety pin, insert the
elastic through the back waist at the side seams. Tack at
each side seam to hold. Machine. Topstitch around the front
waistband 3 mm (i/s in) from the edges. Sew a button on the
right front waistband. Make a buttonhole to match on the left
front extension. (Reverse the button fastening for a girl.)
Turn up a hem to the required length.
