THE ALLOWANCE

The allowance at each line is 5 mm (^ in) and there is a grading line on each side of the main front and back pieces. This means that the total grading allowance per size is 2.5 cm (1 in). There are also grading lines on each sleeve, so that they can be adjusted to fit the armhole once the front and back have been graded. You will need to check the chest and waist measurements you require against the chart of sizes which is given on page 7. If you do not need to adjust the pattern by 2.5 cm (1 in), but only 1 cm (1^ in), then adjust each grading line by only 3 mm (Ys in) per line.
See opposite for the method of grading to a larger or smaller size.
