STRIPS

For strips cut on the cross, take care that your pattern pieces are laid down < exactly on the diagonal grain of the fabric. Folding the top corner edge of the fabric down to the selvedge will show you the true diagonal line to follow. Pin your pattern to the fabric and cut out, using sharp dressmaking scissors. Clip at the balance marks and make tailor's tacks at the balance dots.
