For a smaller size, overlap the pieces of the pattern, when you have cut through them at the grading line. First move those pieces with side edges over the grading line by 5 mm (1/^ m), or 3 mm (YQ in), towards the centre front or centre back. Then move the upper pieces above the grading line by the same measurement. Adjust the new cutting line as already described. Laying out the pattern and cutting out First place the largest pattern piece on your fabric. If you are cutting pieces to the fold of the fabric, fold the fabric with right sides together, along the grain indicated by the fold line symbol. Smaller pieces can then be fitted in between the larger ones.
