The Consumer Affairs (CA) Directorate
is run by the Department of Trade and
Industry (DTI) of the United Kingdom.
The mission of the Consumer Affairs Directorate
is to promote a fair deal for all consumers,
thereby helping both business competitiveness
and social inclusion. CA Directorate's
main job is to deal with UK and International
consumer policy issues. CA Directorate
works closely with representatives of
business and consumers as well as Local
Government Trading Standards Departments
and others. Key priorities include: improving
consumer advice and information; updating
the laws and regulations which protect
consumers; modernizing consumer institutions;
improving enforcement; enhancing consumer
safety; and promoting consumers' interests
in the international world of e-commerce.
