Baby Bib -
The Outer Binding
1. Pin the bib to the backing fabric,
placing the wrong sides together.
2. Pin the binding for the outside edge
of the bib in place, aligning the cut edges and placing
the binding slightly against the edge of the bib as
you work, so that the folded edge of the binding will
lie smooth when done. This will cause both edges of
the binding to ripple slightly.
3. Using a small machine or hand stitches,
sew the binding to the bib 3/16" (5 mm) from the
edge.
4. Starting at the bottom and working
up one side at a time. Turn the folded edge of the binding
over the unfinished edge of the bib, encasing the seam
allowances, and pin it in place at the back of the bib.
5. Hem the binding by catching it to
the stitches visible on the underside of the bib. Trim
the ends of the binding even with the neck edge of the
bib.
