Cutting the Fabric
1. Enlarge the bib pattern according
to the scale and cut it out ( See Diagram 1 below).
2. Lay one piece of fabric on top of
the other, wrong sides together, and pin the pattern
to the fabric pieces, making sure to place it in one
corner of the fabric to
reduce the waste.
3. Cut the bib pieces and choose one
for the front and the contrasting one for the backing.
4. Cut two bias strips 1 1/8" (2.9
cm) for French binding, from the backing fabric. One
strip should be the length of the outside edge of the
bib plus 1" (2.5 cm).
The other strip should be the length of the neck edge,
plus 1/2" (13 mm).
5. The binding will look best if the
strips are continuous and don't have to be pieced.
