Lace Cap - Marking and Cutting the Fabric.

1. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, wrong side out, and pin the edges together. (see diagram 1).

2. Mark a rectangle that measures 15 3/4” x 7 1/4” (40 x 18.4 cm) with
dressmaker's chalk (Use the folded edge as one of the long sides). The folded edge will be the front, and the opposite cut side the back. (If you are making a paper pattern, draw the rectangle on paper and mark one long
side the front and the other the back.)

3. Measure and mark 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) from the back corners along the sides and along the back.

4. On the front edge, measure and mark 1" (2.5 cm) from both corners.

5. Connect the three marks at each end of the pattern with dotted lines, and cut the fabric just inside the lines and inside the back edge. (If you made a paper pattern, follow the same directions; then lay the cut-out pattern on the folded fabric, with the front edge along the fold. Pin the pattern in place, and cut the fabric to the shape of the pattern.).
