3mm (No.ll) knitting needles or the
required sizes to give correct
tension; 3.50mm (No.9) crochet
hook; 4 buttons; 1 stitch-holder;
knitting-in elastic.
Tension: 26 sts to 10cm over
stocking st, using 3.75mm needles.
Note; To turn neatly, work as
follows: Y fwd, sl 1 purlwise, y bk,
return slipped st to left-hand needle,
turn.
JUMPER
BACK
Using 3mm needles and Cl, cast on
69 (75, 85) sts.
1st Row: PI, * Kl tbi, PI, rep from *
to end.
2nd Row: Kl, * PI tbi, Kl, rep from
* to end.
Rep these 2 rows 4 (6, 6) more times,
inc 1 st at end of last row in second
size only.
69 (76, 85) sts.
Change to 3.75mm needles and M.
Work in stocking st until 16 (19,
21)cm from cast-on, ending with a
knit row.
Knit 5 rows.
Beg with a knit row, cont in
stocking st until 29 (33, 36)cm from
cast-on, ending with a purl row.
Cast off 23 (26, 30) sts at beg of next
2 rows.
Cast off rem 23 (24, 25) sts loosely.
FRONT
Work as for Back until 25 (28.5,
31)cm from cast-on, ending with a
purl row.
Shape neck:
Next Row: K28 (31, 35), cast off 13
(14, 15) sts loosely, knit to end.
** Dec 1 st at neck edge in alt rows
until 23 (26, 30) sts rem.
Cont without shaping until same
length as Back to shoulder.
Cast off. **
With wrong side facing, rejoin yarn
at neck edge.

SLEEVES
Using 3mm needles and Cl, cast on
35 (37, 39) sts.
Work 9 (11, 11) rows in rib as for
lower band of Back.
Next Row: Rib 6 (4, 2) sts, * inc in
next st, rib 2 sts, rep from * to last 8
(6, 4) sts, inc in next st, rib to end.
43 (47, 51) sts.
Change to 3.75mm needles and M.
Work in stocking st, at the same
time inc 1 st each end of 3rd row,
then every foil 3rd, (3rd, 4th) row to
67 (73, 77) sts.
Cont without shaping until 15 (18,
23)cm from cast-on, measuring
straight up the centre, and ending
with a knit row.
Knit 5 rows.
Cast off loosely.
NECKBAND
Backstitch right shoulder seam.
With right side facing, using 3mm
needles and M, knit up 45 (48, 51)
sts evenly around Front neck, then
24 (25, 26) sts across Back neck.
69 (73, 77) sts.
Change to Cl.
Purl 1 row.
Work 6 rows in rib as for lower band
of Back.
Cast off loosely in rib.
TO MAKE UP:
Backstitch 1cm of left shoulder
seam.
Fit tops of Sleeves to side edges,
beginning and ending at lower edges
of garter stitch trim on Back and
Front. Backstitch in place.
Backstitch side and Sleeve seams.
Using 3.50mm crochet hook and
colour to match shoulder and
Neckband, work 1 row double
crochet around shoulder and
Neckband opening.
Work a second row, working 4
evenly-spaced loops of chain stitch
on Front edge for buttonholes.
